About Habitat
Established in February of 2000, Habitat for Humanity has built three homes between 2000 - 2005 in Clinton County. Our fourth and fifth homes were completed in 2009. Our sixth home was built in 2011 in the village of Ovid.
In 2011 we began a wheelchair ramp program for families in need. Volunteers build the ramp and the family pays for the materials.
We also operate a Habitat for Humanity Restore in St. Johns where we sell new and used building supplies, appliances and other household goods. The ReStore is open to the general public and we accept product donations.
Our board meeting schedule is the third Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at Christ United Church, 1000 W. Webb Road, DeWitt 48820.
Habitat is making a difference. According to a study conducted by Davenport University, the work of Habitat for Humanity has proven to make a real difference in the lives of Habitat partner families:
- 68 percent of families report an increase in their income
- 25 percent of families report better grades in school for their children
- 23 percent of families report less sickness
- 58 percent of families report less family conflict
- 40 percent of families report going on to obtaining additional education
Habitat for Humanity follows a non-discriminatory policy of family selection.
